The Craziest Things News Anchors Have Said And Done On Air

We rarely see news reporters or news anchors who are on their worst behavior. Because if that’s the case then they become the news. Just like these news reporters who were caught doing unacceptable things on live TV.

Even seasoned veterans crack under pressure and lose composure. Some are hilarious while others are just downright embarrassing. Think your favorite news reporter made a list? Check out The Craziest Things News Anchors Have Said And Done On Air.

10. Live Suicide

It is crazy and creepy seeing someone die right before your eyes. If it were some freak accident, then it would be understandable. Of course, you would be traumatized right after that, but nothing is more traumatizing than seeing someone kill himself right in front of you. All the more on live television. Just like this news anchor.

In 1974, Sarasota news anchor Christine Chubbuck interrupted her morning newscast with the following statement: “In keeping with Channel 40’s policy of bringing you the latest in blood and guts, and in living color, you are going to see another first: attempted suicide.” She then shot herself behind the ear and died soon after. There are no tapes of the incident available to the public at this time.

9. Too High To Report

News reporters are expected to be on their best behavior at all times. Who would believe them if they don’t look respectable and credible? But sometimes unexpected circumstances happen especially when you are live on air. You can’t control everything no matter how perfect you want your report to be.

This is one of our all-time favorite news clips, this English reporter is too high to report, but it’s not his fault, though. Why was he so happy? This reporter is standing in front of 8 1/2 tons of heroin, opiates, hash-sheesh and several narcotics set on fire. He and his cameraman end up getting so high off of the fumes that they can’t even get through their segment. Just look at his I’m-in-cloud-nine face.

8. When Bugs Attack

Who likes bugs? Especially flying bugs. Not this reporter. Who says, grown men, don’t fear anything?

It was a beautiful day for Fox News reporter Brad Wills to report the weather from the beach when suddenly a large bug flew right in front of his face! He immediately turned to the side to avoid being attacked, but the cameras cut back to the studio crew. Another reporter said, “Brad was just attacked by either a large bug or a small drone.” Poor Brad, but it made everyone’s morning.

7. Too Hot!

The weather report may not be as exciting as the other news segments. It’ll only interest us if we have an outdoor trip or activity but for the most part, it’s usually ignored. But this one’s a different story.

Fox 10 Anchor Cory McCloskey reports the weather every single day, but this time there was something different on his weather map report. A technical problem caused the temperature in some cities on the map to go over 1000 degrees! He even joked, “I would get out while you still can!”
