The Cast Of “Xena: Warrior Princess”: Where Are They Now?


September 4, 1995, the world was properly introduced to Xena with “Xena: Warrior Princess.” The character was originally set to die during a short stint on the equally as popular “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys,” but the producers decided to give the character their own show. The series has since become a cult classic amongst fans, and the show’s lead characters Xena and Gabrielle became role models for the lesbian community. We take a look back at the cast of “Xena: Warrior Princess” and find out what they’ve been up to since the show’s final episode on June 18, 2001.

#12 Lucy Lawless


Lucy Lawless garnered high praise for her portrayal of the title character. The New Zealand native gained supporting roles on “Battlestar Galactica,” “Spartacus: Blood and Sand,” and “Salem,” which earned her a Fangoria Chainsaw Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress on Television. She currently appears on the TV series “Ash vs. Evil Dead,” which has her reuniting with former “Xena” co-star Bruce Campbell.

#11 Renee O’Connor


Renee O’Connor received her biggest role in her career as Xena’s sidekick Gabrielle. Her performance landed her two OFTA Television Award nominations for Best Actress in a Syndicated Series. After the show ended, the Texan made television appearances on “Mataku,” “Criminal Minds,” and “Ark,” which was a web series featured on Hulu. She is currently working on the films Watch the Sky and A Question of Faith.

#10 Bruce Campbell


Aside from starring in “Xena” as Autolycus, Bruce Campbell directed two episodes of the series: 1997’s “The King of Assassins” and 1999’s “The Key to the Kingdom.” The Michigan native is best known for his work in the Evil Dead franchise, which he worked on with “Xena” executive producers Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert. Aside from Evil Dead, Campbell is also known for portraying Sam Axe on “Burn Notice.”

#9 Ted Raimi


Sam Raimi’s brother Ted portrayed Xena and Gabrielle’s friend Joxer on the show. Aside from “Xena,” the Michigan native is also best known for portraying Lt. j.g. Timothy O’Neill on “seaQuest DSV” and Ted Hoffman in the Sam Raimi-directed Spider-Man films. Recently, he’s made appearances on the shows “Deathly Spirits,” “Supernatural,” and “Legend of the Seeker.”

#8 Hudson Leick


Hudson Leick played the role of Xena’s evil nemesis Callisto. She left after the fifth season due to wanting more diverse roles. She made appearances on “Tru Calling,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” and “Nip/Tuck.” The Cincinnati native has been teaching yoga for nearly 20 years. She still makes convention appearances around the world. Her next acting gig will be in the 2017 comedy film Blood Type.

#7 Kevin Smith


New Zealand actor Kevin Smith played the Greek God of War Ares. In 2002, Smith passed away from severe head injuries from falling off a prop tower in China after finishing shooting the film Warriors of Virtue: The Return to Tao. He was set to make his big Hollywood debut in the 2003 Bruce Willis film Tears of the Sun. One year after his death, TV2 aired a documentary titled “Remembering Kev: A Tribute to Kevin Smith.”

#6 Alexandra Tydings


Alexandra Tydings played the Greek goddess Aphrodite on the show. Aside from acting, she has performed in the bands Annabelle Kickbox and She’s Seen You Naked. In 2005, she started teaching rock n roll yoga, which meant playing loud rock music during yoga sessions. Her last acting role was in a 2008 episode of “The Wire.” She is married to Ben Luzzatto, and they have two daughters.

#5 Karl Urban


Karl Urban played the roles of Julius Caesar and Cupid on the series. The New Zealand actor has become a big name in Hollywood with roles as Éomer in the Lord of the Rings films and Leonard McCoy in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek films. He is currently working on the 2017 Marvel Studios film Thor: Ragnarok as Skurge the Executioner.

#4 Adrienne Wilkinson


For the last two seasons of “Xena,” Adrienne Wilkinson portrayed Xena’s daughter Eve. After the show ended, the Missouri native landed roles on “Days of Our Lives,” “Charmed,” and “About a Boy.” She has also lent her voice to video games, including “The Evil Within,” “Everquest II,” and “Rise of the Tomb Raider.” Since 2011, she works on an online interview series titled From The Mouths of Babes over on Youtube. Her upcoming projects include the films Nobility and Vespucci.

#3 Marton Csokas


Marton Csokas played the role of warlord Borias. After the show, the New Zealand native played Lord Celeborn in the Lord of the Rings films and Ashley Kafka in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. His work in the 2007 film Romulus, My Father earned him an AACTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and a Film Critics Circle of Australia Award for Best Supporting Actor. His upcoming films are Voice from the Stone and Felt.

#2 Danielle Cormack


Danielle Cormack played Ephiny, who was the queen of the Amazons. The New Zealand actress is best known for her work on “Rake” and “Wentworth,” which earned her an ASTRA Award for Most Outstanding Female Actor and a Logie Award for Most Outstanding Actress. Aside from acting in film and television, she also appeared in several plays, including “A Clockwork Orange,” “A Streetcar Named Desire,” and “Boys Will Be Boys.”

#1 Timothy Omundson


Timothy Omundson played the role of preacher Eli on the fourth and fifth seasons of “Xena.” Since leaving the show, the Missouri native joined the main cast of “Judging Amy,” “Psych,” and “Galavant.” He will appear in the 2017 film adaptation of Woody Woodpecker as divorced father Lance Walters. He is also set to appear in the films Wild Honey and Carter & June.

“Xena: Warrior Princess” will go down as one of the most influential action series in recent memory. Recently, the folks at NBC announced plans to reboot the series with the help from original producers Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert. With the addition of writer Javier Grillo-Marxuach, who has worked on “Lost” and “Medium,” the reboot is set to become one of the most anticipated returns on network television.
