The Dead Sea is a sea off the border of Isreal that is known for having the lowest elevation on Earth. This alone makes it incredible, but there are many other aspects of the sea that make it truly unique. The buoyancy of the Dead Sea allows pretty much anyone to be able to float. There are also many products from the ground around the sea and the water itself that make this a destination spot for many looking for natural health supplements. But one artist saw a more creative purpose for the sea. Click through to see the amazing thing she decided to use the water’s mysterious properties for.
#18 The Salt Bride Was Inspiration
One artist used the book “The Salt Bride” as an inspiration to create her piece. The story is about a woman who becomes possessed by the ghost of her dead lover. See what item she decided to use in order to create her inspirational and quite stunning piece of art!
#17 She Wanted To Recreate The Dress
The artist wanted to recreate the dress from the story. She decided to do this by submerging the dress in The Dead Sea. She found the perfect dress to do the job, too. The style and color of the dress are the perfect design in order to be an amazingly beautiful representation of the way the woman in the story looks.
#16 So She Embarked On A Journey
The artist knew that in order to achieve the look that she wanted, it would be a long time and be a tireless process. She still decided to go through with it and submerged the dress into the water. It wouldn’t just be a quick thing, however, she planned to keep it submerged for two years!
#15 Progress Check Every Three Months
She decided to make a progress check on the dress every three months until she achieved the desired look to honor one of her favorite characters. With just the first visit after a few months, incredible results already awaited her! The dress has begun the crystallization process and already has an eerie look to it!
#14 The Dress Became Ghostly
After just a few more months, the dress has started to take on a rather ghostly look! It is truly very eerie just how this dress went from being plain black to having such a ghastly glow to it! But this isn’t the end of the journey of the dress. Click through to see an even bigger transformation!
#13 It Was Difficult To Photograph
The dress was rather challenging to photograph in the first place. The water in the dead see makes pretty much anything able to float, and it’s pretty challenging to go deeper than the surface. But they were determined to get a good photograph. The photographer had to wear one hundred and fifty pounds of weight in order to have him be able to go under!
#12 It Was Getting An Artistic Appearance
As it drew closer and closer to the two-year mark, it was beginning to get the appearance that the artist had been hoping for. No longer did it just look like an ordinary dress anymore. Now it had gained so many new potentials for what this beautiful artistic piece could possibly represent.
#11 No One Was Prepared For What They Might Find
No one could have been prepared for what was to come when they finally decided it was time to pull the dress from the sea. The artist had a team of people ready to help her bring the dress to the surface. Although they were ready for the work, they weren’t ready for the breathtaking sight that would soon overtake them.
#10 The Image Is Breathtaking
Seeing the image outside of the water was truly breathtaking for those who were there for the original image. while it was under water, it was part of a stunning setting full of eeriness and mystery. But now that it could be pulled out to land, it was able to effortlessly capture the sunlight, giving it an extra illuminated glow.
#9 It Looks Like Something Preserved In Time
The dress before it had gone under water was definitely something that had a historic look to it. But now that you add the extra elements around it, it truly looks like something that has been frozen, literally, in time. It looks like a perfect piece of history that someone had found in The Dead Sea. But this wasn’t the end of the journey for the dress.
#8 They Wanted To Open A Gallery
It wasn’t actually a historic piece, though, it was an art piece created by a talented person. In order to showcase her work and the dress’s journey, the artist decided to open the gallery and give the dress a semi-permanent home. The gallery showcases photographs from when it was under water. But that’s not the only thing the gallery is home to.
#7 She Does Much More Than Dresses
The artist has done this process with more than just dresses. As you can see, she makes many other types of sculptures affected by the elements of The Dead Sea, like these lamps! They are made out of barbed wire and then had been submerged right back into the sea that the dress came from.
#6 Even A Noose
The artist even did a noose in the same way that she did the dress and the lamps. She submerged them all in the same sort of system of wires to keep it under the very lightweight water. But she did keep different times for each item, catering them specifically to the elements they were made of as well as the size.
#5 Fishing Net
She also did some fishing net. What better item to be submerged in the sea than a fishing net? It looks very eerie as if it were something that had been abandoned by a sailor in the sea. But these items are just a few of many that she has showcased at her gallery. Click through to see what else is on display!
One of her most beautiful pieces has to be this violin. The violin is one of the few pieces where you can actually see the original material beneath the crystallization that happens over the to of it. But what happened to the dress? Did it make it out of the water or had it been destroyed once it reached the air?
#3 Dream Catcher
The dream catcher is just another piece of many that she has showcased in her gallery. She decided to name this one instead as simply “The Catcher.” All of these pieces have such a ghastly appearance to them but still remain so beautiful. And she perfectly pairs them with a black backdrop, making them all the more stunning.
These shoes aren’t quite as beautiful as the dress, but they sure are still breathtaking. They appear as though they’re covered in snow like someone had worn them through a snowstorm. Instead, they had just been submerged under the sea for quite some time, just like the rest of these pieces.
#1 The Bride
At last, we have the image of the dress, the stunning art piece that had started it all. It’s not often that an artist can think of something so stunning and beautiful. What was once a simple dark dress that looked like something you might wear at a funeral has quickly become a stunning work of art and something more along the lines of a wedding dress.
Artists like these are truly amazing. For some, art is simple, it’s not complex, and it’s little things you see in life every day. For others, art is hard work, extensive, and something that not everyone can easily achieve. This definitely holds true for the artist who created this stunning masterpiece. Her work is truly incredible and will be something that people will love and admire for countless years to come. It’s not every day that you can get access the something as big as The Dead Sea, so the fact that the artist gives us access into what this body of water is capable of is all the more extraordinary. It’s artists like these who are truly helping to find the extreme beauty and mystery that the world holds.
