Donald Trump’s 10-Year-Old Son Lives The High Life

featured-imageDonald Trump’s fifth and youngest child, Barron Trump, is a ten-year-old who has already experienced a more luxurious life than most people ever will. His parents are rich, his toys are expensive, and his dad is the President-elect of the United States. He’s already made several appearances on network television, and his parents have already reserved his username for Twitter.

There’s a reason his mother calls him Little Donald, and you might be surprised to learn what’s normal for this kid. Read on to learn more about young Barron’s life so far.

12. The Suite Life

001-12-the-suite-life-ccdcae249b7e3be392bdc01d61a20352Melania Trump told Parenting magazine that Barron’s got one floor to himself in Donald’s penthouse. The 58-story Manhattan skyscraper isn’t quite the same as the White House—and for most people, living in the White House would be a major upgrade.

Barron will stay with Melania in New York, though, while he finishes school.

11. Birthplace

002-11-birthplace-676f02a399b45b3e40bbcf46ecd0f28eBarron was born after 6 a.m. on March 20, 2006, weighing in at 8 1/2 pounds and 21 inches long. He is Donald’s fifth and youngest child. Melania said the birth was “very, very easy.”

Her husband, however, had different thoughts. ““I was just a bit queasy,” he said to the New York Post. “Being a doctor would not be my thing.”

10. All Gold Everything

003-10-all-gold-everything-8f1ea0c4fa305de4335591883fbed319Barron is used to all things gold—24-karat gold and marble make up plenty of the surfaces within the Trump Tower penthouse. The penthouse was designed by Angelo Donghia and features awesome views of Central Park and Manhattan. Other Trump households include a Beverly Hills mansion, a 60-bedroom home in Bedford, New York, and a beach retreat in Florida.

9. Out Of The Spotlight

004-9-out-of-the-spotlight-912196e37db3badf8af9ed515473bda8These details of Barron’s life are readily available, but they’re few and far between. During Donald’s trips along the campaign trail, Barron only made appearances several times. Every Trump sibling spoke at the Republican National Convention except Barron.

Barron is closer in age to his own nieces and nephews than the rest of his siblings. Tiffany Trump is the next oldest child, at age 22.

8. Born Golfer

005-8-born-golfer-7e1583294d596cd953ad3fe36119fcbeBarron shares Donald’s love for golfing—that’s just one of the reasons why his mother calls him Little Donald. Pictured here are the three family members at the 2015 Ricoh Women’s British Open in Scotland.

Barron also plays the drums, and made his first television appearance at age eight on his father’s show, The Apprentice.

7. He’s Tired

006-7-he-s-tired-8b2684084f3a708d64b8885a566e83eeJournalists and politicos remarked on how tired and bored Barron looked when he appeared with his family for his father’s victory speech. He had been awake for nearly 24 hours at this point and struggled to stay awake as his father accepted the election win.

Pictured here is Barron with his mother at a benefit—again, looking a bit exhausted.

6. Bilingual

007-6-bilingual-9466f5fc52b0af48c94a978bd51b4716Barron speaks English as well as Slovene, his mother’s native tongue. He learned the language starting at age three.

This makes perfect sense—immigrant parents often teach their children their native languages. Barron is also currently attending a very expensive prep school in New York, and private education often places high importance on language skills.

5. Caviar Moisturizer

008-5-caviar-moisturizer-8dc757e51b6aef1e53a13e8c1d8c6fc1Melania told ABC News in 2013 that Barron uses her expensive moisturizer after his nightly bath.

The moisturizer, a product from Melania’s beauty line, is not currently for sale. Caviar is one of its main ingredients—that might sound crazily luxurious, but there’s no proof of any added benefits. The Food and Drug Administration does not require skincare companies to share their ingredients or processing methods with consumers.

4. Neat And Tidy

009-4-neat-and-tidy-e2a119061d1dc00690ea802c9f558cd4Melania told that Barron favors a clean and white aesthetic. This is different from his dad’s preference for everything golden.

Still, he’s definitely a child: Melania also said that Barron liked to draw on the walls when he was younger. “Since he has his own floor,” it’s totally fine.

Of course it is—his dad could afford to pay a paint crew to redo the walls by the week!

3. Prep School Kid

010-3-prep-school-kid-0b187b87e23412e1051b6b4e65c856f0Barron attends the Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. This prestigious private school costs nearly $45,000 per year in tuition.

The school, founded in 1764, has plenty of famous alumni. Two you may have heard of include Moby Dick author Herman Melville and Buffy the Vampire Slayerstar Sarah Michelle Gellar.

2. Secret Service

011-2-secret-service-561a4fb40de1704d6ee8a04e4f1dcfb1The Secret Service will accompany Barron whenever he leaves the White House.

When Chelsea Clinton moved into the White House in 1993, she was only 12 years old. Steve Ford, the son of former president Henry Ford, sent her a letter and offered advice. He told her to make friends with the Secret Service, because they may be her only link to the outside world.

1. No Sweats

012-1-no-sweats-cf8aa1f5e1fdb9a9f3f7e0fa8b6bbb72Melania told ABC News in 2013 that her son isn’t big on loungewear.

“He’s not a sweatpants child,” she said. “He doesn’t mind putting on [a suit], but not every day—and he likes to dress up in a tie sometimes, like Daddy.”

“He is a very strong-minded, very special, smart boy,” she added. “He is independent and opinionated and knows exactly what he wants.”

It may be fun to make light of a 10-year-old who lives on his own floor of a penthouse, but it’s also important to keep in mind that Barron isn’t responsible for any of it.

Barron will be the first boy child in the White House since John F. Kennedy, Jr., and the Trump family is in the international spotlight in ways they’ve never been before. The truth is that people will discuss and describe the Trumps in offensive ways. Here’s hoping that Barron’s next four years aren’t any more difficult than they have to be.
