There are many successful people around us and we all wonder whether it is their luck that led them to success. However, if you are counting on your luck, you stand wrong. All successful people have certain habits in common that lead them to success and make their time more productive. My point is, the more productive your time is, the more successful you will be in life. So, here are some habits of successful people that you should adopt if you want to spend your time more productively and achieve more in life.
1- Get Up Early
I have always been a huge advocate of waking up early in the morning. If you look at successful people around you, you will see this habit common in all of them. When you wake up early in the morning, like around 5:00 am or 5:30 am and start working early, you will see how productive those early hours are. You will accomplish more in those early hours since there are no distractions.
2- Get Moving
Ok, so when you wake up early, don’t just go and sit in front of your computer and start working. You need to stimulate your mind and get it working too. And for that, the best thing you can do is work out. Start with a brisk walk for 30 minutes, add some cardio, weight lifting, stretching and some yoga poses. This is not only important for physical fitness but also improves mental alertness.
3- Eat A Proper Breakfast
Many of us don’t really give importance to the most important meal of the day: the breakfast. How many of you just grab a left over piece of last night’s pizza or fill a bowl with sugary cereal and feel contented with your breakfast? If you do that, its time to bring a change. Eat a proper, nutritious breakfast that is full of proteins. This is the best gift you can give to your mind, metabolism, and overall body.
4- Enjoy Some Quiet Time
Ok, this is a bonus you get when you wake up early. Everyone else is sleeping and there is so much silence in the house, you will just love it. Sit down and spend some 5-10 minutes doing whatever you like. Open up your social network and find out what’s going on. Write in a journal or do whatever you like. Believe me, you will feel more relaxed and ready for the day ahead.
5- Keep Everything Organized
Keep everything organized like your room tidy, your bathroom clean, your work bags ready, clothes prepared, and meals ready. When you have everything under control, you will feel more relaxed and at the top of your game. On the contrary, if your house is a train wreck, the visual cues will send small stress signals to your brain, which will make you stressed.
6- Forget What Happened Yesterday
You had a loss yesterday? Don’t fret over it. Leave it behind and forget it. Learn from your mistake and start your day with a positive outlook. Don’t think too much about your loss.
7- Plan Everything You Need To Do
If you plan your day ahead, you will see that you will accomplish more in the day. prepare a to-do list and set out all your goals and tasks for the day. It’s true that if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail. Try it and you will know the difference it makes.
8- Keep a Track Of Your Time
Ok, so when you are planning, you will see how many things you need to get done and how much less time there is. So, the best way to do this is to assign a specific time for each task. And make sure you don’t go over that time frame.
9- Go For A Walk
Go outside in the morning and enjoy the cool, calm air and inhale some fresh air. This is good for your physical fitness as well as mental health.
Reading is a good way to work out your brain and get it working in the morning. Before starting your day, open up your favorite book, or just read a good article in the newspaper or the internet.
11- Get Ready By Pampering Yourself
Try starting your day in night clothes without washing your face and you will see how dumb and dull you will feel. On the contrary, try starting your day after washing your face, applying moisturizer, putting on an outfit and getting yourself ready and you will see the difference.
12- Don’t Procrastinate
When you are reading the book or surfing the web and enjoying a quiet time, an evil voice in your head will tell you to do it for 5 more minutes because it feels so good. But avoid doing that because, you are going to regret later.
13- Prioritize Your Tasks
There might be a hundred things to do each day but not all of them are equally important. Some are urgent, others are important, and the others just extra work. So, keep the urgent ones first, important ones next and the extra work after that so by the end of the day, you will be at least done with the urgent ones.
