12. Sotheby’s Rare Green Diamond
This fabulously beautiful diamond is rich with the color green and is the largest of its kind to have ever appeared at auction. It is a cushion modified brilliant cut and weighs in at an incredible 2.52 karats. The reason it is so precious is because green (along with red) is one of the rarest color variations a diamond can have. It is created by millions of years of exposure to irradiation deep inside the earth creating a certain absorption of light that other diamonds typically don’t receive. Generally, the green color some diamonds do have is removed during cutting, so this brilliant diamond is extremely rare. It is worth over $3 million.
11. Princess Katharina Henckel Von Donnersmark’s Tiara
This beautiful piece of work not only gets its value from the many diamonds and emeralds used to create it, it always has a stunning history to add to it’s worth. Given to Princess Katharina from her husband Guido Henckel Von Donnersmarck, a German nobleman and one of the richest men of his time, the tiara was made of 11 pearl-shaped Columbian emeralds that were exceptionally rare. Together the emeralds weigh over 500 karats! It is estimated that the tiara is about $12.7 million.
10. Garrard’s Heart Of The Kingdom Ruby
This is absolutely one of the most exquisite pieces you may ever see. Created by The House of Garrard, this breathtaking necklace is known as the Heart of the Kingdom Ruby and features 155 diamonds laid below a Burmese ruby weighing a whopping 40.6 karats. Something like this would make a great Valentine’s day gift, am I right? Too bad it comes with an unbelievable $14 million price tag.
9. Bvlgari Two Stone Ring
This ring is one of the most expensive to ever be auctioned. Set with a triangular fancy cut blue diamond and a colorless triangular diamond, the ring has baguette cut diamonds in the middle set in a ring of gold. The blue diamond weighs 10.95 karats while the white diamond weighs a bit less at 9.87 karats. It was created in 1972 and went at Christie’s Auction House for $15.7 million.
8. The Perfect Pink
Christie’s Auction House calls this the Perfect Pink. This extremely rare fancy intense pink diamond is one of only 19 pink diamonds over 10 karats to ever be auctioned and all the rest of the pink diamonds were never graded as well as this one so it’s really in its own class. Especially since it weighs 14.23 karats. This impeccable ring is valued at $23.2 million.
