On the fateful day of July 25, 2000, Air France Flight 4590 was set to fly from Paris to New York when it suddenly struck runway debris. The aircraft blew a tire and punctured the fuel tank during takeoff which caused an engine to burst into flames before it failed and caused the plane to crash into a hotel shortly after. The 100 passengers and nine crew members were killed instantly while four people were killed on the ground and one critically injured. This was the only fatal Concorde accident in 27 years of its operational history.

5. Pacific Southwest Airlines Flight 182pacific south west

Pacific Southwest Airlines Flight 182 was a Boeing 727-214 commercial airliner that collided with a private Cessna 172 light aircraft, over San Diego, California at about 9:00 am on Monday, September 25, 1978. The death toll of 144 makes it the deadliest aircraft disaster in California history. Both aircraft crashed into a San Diego neighborhood, at the intersection of Dwight and Nile, killing all 137 people on both aircraft and seven people on the ground in houses, including two children. Nine bystanders were injured and 22 homes were destroyed by the impact and debris.
